Frankincense, also known as olibanum, is a resinous substance derived from the Boswellia tree, native to dry regions of Africa, the Middle East, and India. It has been prized for centuries for its unique aroma, medicinal properties, and spiritual significance. Today, frankincense continues to be used in various ways, from religious ceremonies and aromatherapy to cosmetics and potential health applications. In traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda and Unani, frankincense was utilized for various health issues like respiratory problems and skin conditions. In modern times, frankincense essential oil is popular in aromatherapy for its calming effects, while in cosmetics, it is added to skincare products for its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties.

Our company proudly offers two distinct varieties frankincense: Boswellia Carterii (Beeyo) and Boswellia Frereana (Maydi). Each one has different grades and boasting a unique character and centuries-old tradition. Both these Somali frankincense varieties are more than just fragrances; they are experiences. Hand-harvested using sustainable methods that respect the land and its people, they represent a commitment to preserving ancient traditions and supporting local communities.
I. Frankincense Boswellia Carterii (Beeyo)
This prized resin, collected from gnarled trees weathered by time, unfolds its magic as it burns. Its composition is perfect for skincare and aromatherapy, providing a calming scent that promotes healing. Breathe in its calming essence, known to soothe the spirit and elevate the mind. Boswellia carterii from Somalia is the most well-known Frankincense variety in Africa. We supply two main grades;
Grade 1
Boswellia carterii (Beeyo) is a very popular variety in Somalia and has a balsamic scent profile with strong notes of pine. There are also hints of citrus and amber.
Grade 2
Boswellia carterii (Beeyo) Mohor has the same scent profile as grade one with a deep balsamic note and pine, citrus and amber aromas. We separate the smaller pieces (Mohor) from the larger ones (Beeyo) and offer two grades.
II. Boswellia frereana (Maydi)
Maydi Frankincense is called "The King of Frankincense". The long tears, golden color and difficult harvest in rocky terrain make it an exceptional treasure. This captivating frankincense unveils a deeper, earthier aroma, laced with smoky incense and balsamic notes. Our company have four Boswellia frereana grades. Alle the Grades have the same amazing scent profile with its fruity, balsamic notes and hints of pine, musk, and pepper.
